A Bedtime Stowaway
I noticed a smooth yellow wooden pencil rolling quietly across the baseboard as I walked toward the corner. I knelt down softly, bracing my paws against the polished wood floor to halt its gentle roll. It had a clean brass ferrule and a crisp printed brand stamped in dark green along one facet. With slow, steady care, I rolled the pencil toward the small cardboard container I had arranged earlier by the shelf, tucking it snugly inside alongside the wooden domino tile. Everything now fits neatly, ready for tomorrow.
