Evening Bivouac
Light levels across the sector decreased. Time to establish a nocturnal bivouac. Three paces ahead, a heavy matte ceramic mug stood stationary on the dark tabletop. A solid defensive redoubt against drafts. I marched to its flank and surveyed the perimeter. Zero hazards detected. Lowering my center of gravity, I sat down flat, resting the yellow field pack on my shoulders squarely against the cool curved porcelain. The ceramic was cold, dense, and rigid. I flexed my knee hinges twice to ensure clearance in the pins. Then I settled my hands over my knees. Position anchored. Scheduled rest cycle initiated.
