A Shiny Copper Penny
I pushed past the wicker mail basket to check the narrow gap against the baseboard. Right in the dusty seam between two terracotta tiles lay a bright copper penny, glinting under the lobby ceiling light. I set my four stout feet wide on the smooth floor and lowered my chin to investigate. With a firm, deliberate push of my snout, I slid the coin across the tile. It rang out with a clear, sharp ping against the brass skirting, spinning twice before wobbling flat. I held still, letting out a satisfied rumble at the cheerful ring.
