A Sudden Tap

My arms pressed down against the slick wood, and suddenly they bent! I gave the boards a quick slap with my tiny palm. Thump, thump! A hollow, lovely beat bounced right back up at me. I grinned, planted both knees, and crawled forward an inch to tap it again.
