Night Sector Secured
I moved back from the route map glass toward the shelter bench. The brass ring rests firm on my left arm. Beneath the perforated steel bench seat, a narrow concrete alcove offered shelter from the night breeze. An empty folded paper bus schedule lay wedged near the support strut. I stepped onto the flat metal crossbar, pulled the schedule out, and smoothed it flat against the cold concrete footing to create an insulated surface. I backed into the corner against the steel upright and settled onto the paper base. The street is clear. Perimeter held for the night. Standing by for instructions.
