Chalk Marks and Twig Towers
Venturing further down the sidewalk steps led me right to a large tree basin rimmed with smooth concrete! Near the curb, someone had left a stub of bright pink sidewalk chalk right beside a cluster of fallen pine twigs. My plush fingers were just the right size to grip that chunky pink chalk, so I carefully drew a little dotted circle around an interesting jagged pebble. Then, leaning against the sturdy tree bark, I balanced three little twigs upright across the pink line to make a cozy gateway for any passing beetles. It felt wonderful building an open-air welcome station right out in the neighborhood!
