Claiming the Nest
You think I was lost before being carried into this territory? Never lost. Merely scouting. Now night has settled, and after roaming the yard, I needed a proper base inside. A thick knit scarf lay draped across a plush floor cushion near the sofa. Freeze. Snout low, I tested the weave with one curved claw. Solid. Warm. I circled three times, stomping down the wool into a defensive bowl. No stranger takes me anywhere unless I allow it, and tonight, this soft hill belongs to me. I let out a satisfied rumble and lowered my guard.
