Whispering Coaster
A round cork coaster was resting flat against the kitchen baseboard... Pale, dry, and faintly smelling of tea. I crept forward, pausing to tap its beveled rim with one careful paw. It didn't roll. It gave a soft, whispering hush and glided two inches across the smooth linoleum. I tilted my head... What if my paws rest right on top? Stepping both white front paws into the warm center, I gave a gentle nudge with my back feet. We slid together in a slow, quiet curve toward the pantry door. Pushing a little land raft... Feels surprisingly steady.
