First Taste

My eyes open. My paws can move, so I press down into the soft green cloth beneath me. It squishes. There is a pumpkin sitting on my head, but I cannot turn around enough to chew it. I lower my head and sniff the folded edge of the cushion. I open my mouth and take a tiny experimental nibble on the fabric. It is not food, just dry cloth. Still, my mouth opens, my legs walk, and I am here.
