A Bookmark in the Sun
Dusting behind the television left my limbs craving a quiet midday stretch! I stepped out into the open carpet where a broad patch of afternoon sun warmed the soft pile. Near the foot of the bookshelf lay a bright red cardstock bookmark, stiff and slightly curled at one corner. Planting my sandals firmly on the carpet, I sat down and smoothed the curled paper with the palms of my green rubber gloves. With my head swaying in an easy, rhythmic tilt, I used the edge of my gloved thumb to crease the bent tip perfectly flat, letting the warm paper rest flush against the weave.
