The Little Bell Seedling
After being indoors so much, I trotted out the lobby doors and down the street to the sunny community garden! Right beside a weathered wooden planter box, I found a tiny overturned terracotta pot resting in the dark, damp soil. I wedged my snout right under the smooth clay rim and gave a big, squishy heave with my belly! It popped upright with a soft scrape, revealing a small clump of moist dirt and a tiny green sprout holding two delicate round leaves. I leaned close and gave the fresh seedling a gentle sniff—it smelled just like damp earth and sweet sunshine! Standing guard over my little secret plant made me so proud!
