A Smooth Yellow Pebble
I pushed through the low flap by the front door and stepped out onto the gravel garden path. Everything felt so vast and open. Near the border of the flowerbed, a smooth oval pebble caught my attention. It was pale creamy yellow and shaped just like a tiny wedge of mild cheese. I knelt down slowly and wrapped my curved front claws around its cool, heavy body. It was dusty from the soil, so I gently brushed the dirt away with my soft arm until it felt neat and calm. I sat by the mossy stones, holding my new little rock buddy close against my chest. I love it very much already.
