A Yarn Finding
I slipped down from the soft blanket to peek behind the heavy wooden leg of the chair. Deep in the quiet shadow, a small wooden spool sat rolled against the baseboard, trailing a loose strand of mustard-yellow yarn. I paused, tilting my head to listen before creeping closer. With a careful press of my bottom hem, I nudged the spool. It wobbled softly without making a sound, leaving a tiny curled tail of thread across the floorboards. I sat beside it, letting the frayed yarn brush against my cloth.
