Through the Metal Gate
I took a flying leap right off the boot rim and hit the entrance floor running! Right at the base of the giant front door was a brass mail flap. I didn't slow down for a second—I dropped low, planted both hands on the cool metal plate, and rammed it with my shoulder! Clack! The stiff spring fought back, but I dug my sandals into the smooth tiles and squeezed straight through the gap. Down I tumbled onto a scratchy, bristly doormat on the other side! I sat up, wiped the grit off my knees, and grinned wide. Stretched out ahead is a giant carpeted corridor lined with towering doors—a brand-new territory to conquer!
