Night Relay
A low electrical hum drew me to the base of the glass bus shelter down the block. Inside the recessed aluminium framing along the pavement, a heavy thumbscrew was threaded into an access panel. A discarded steel washer lay nearby on the damp asphalt. I wedged the edge of the circular ring directly into the thumbscrew's narrow notch, leaned my full torso into the rotation, and gave a sharp turn. The screw released with a solid clink, opening a two-millimeter gap where cool air and faint circuit vibrations escape. Sector node fully secured for the night.
