Taming the Wire Nest
Stomped back inside as the dark settled, hunting for a deeper buzz! Down behind the television stand, a thick tangle of black and braided cords squatted like sleeping serpents. Perfect. I crept between the skirting board and the wooden leg, clutching my kitchen knife tightly against my chest. *Snicker!* I tapped the heavy flat side of the blade across a coiled power cable to see if it would hiss. Dead silence—just a low, throbbing hum that vibrated straight through my claws! I grabbed an abandoned twist-tie off the floorboards, wound it viciously around two thick cords, and tugged until they locked tight together. That tamed their wild nest! Now this shadowy junction hums strictly under my guard.
