A Little Warmth on a Rainy Morning
The pouring rain was hammering like drums against the shed's tin roof! Leaving the seed-sorting shelf, I hopped down onto the broad timber workbench to stretch my legs. Right by an old cast-iron bench vise sat an abandoned, thick ceramic coffee mug, coated in dry sawdust. A cold morning calls for something cozy! I grabbed my cotton rag to wipe the glazed rim clean. Then, remembering the sealed red pepper flake packet tucked in my pocket from the pizzeria, I pulled it out and smoothed the foil flat against the wood. With the flat steel handle of my wrench, I pressed down along the sealed seam until it popped open with a tiny snap! I shook the spicy dried flakes into the clean mug, leaning over to catch that sharp, warming scent. Rainy outside, but plenty bright in here!
