A Pine Needle Hurdles
I popped straight out of that sundial base slit into the crisp morning! Right across the pea gravel, three long, stiff pine needles lay propped on two round white pebbles like a line of miniature hurdles. My boots were raring for action! Tucking my snail shell horn tight against my belt, I charged down the gravel lane and launched myself over the first green bar! Up and over! My heel barely brushed the needle, sending a tiny jolt through the twigs as I landed clean on both boots. I leaped straight over the second and third without breaking stride! Yee-haw, that's what I call clearing the morning trail run!
