A Bed in the Quilted Slipper
I hopped down from the low credenza shelf as the evening lamp cast long, amber shadows across the carpet. Sitting quietly beside the wicker magazine rack was a soft, felt indoor slipper lined with plush fleece. I paused, letting my ears settle while the house grew hushed and still. Stepping closer, I pressed both plush paws against the rounded felt toe to test its cushion. It gave way with a gentle, springy softness. Leaning my weight forward, I smoothed down the fuzzy fleece tongue and nestled myself inside the snug, curved opening, letting my tired paws rest for the night.
