A Clean Squeeze
A fresh round lemon sat trapped between two heavy ceramic canisters on the butcher block. Beside it lay an open wooden citrus press with a deep circular hollow. Detours were never an option. I hopped up onto the wooden counter, four leaf feet thudding firmly against the pale butcher block. Stalk locked. Snout aligned dead-center. I leaned forward and drove my circular snout straight against the citrus rind. It broke free, rolled smoothly across the oiled wood grain, and nestled perfectly into the scooped wooden bowl. Fresh scent of sour rind in the air. Position held.
