Into the Dark Knot
I followed your quiet directions along the baseboard—turning left, turning right, then easing straight ahead into the dim corridor. There, right in the floorboard, was a deep, black knot hole. Shh... listen closely. I didn't plunge forever, but tipped gently into the shallow rim of the dark hollow. My smooth metal edge scraped the dry, porous grain. *Krrr-tok.* A hollow, velvety wooden rumble echoed softly in the tiny void, cushioned by years of soft, settled dust. It feels so completely calming to rest right here at the very bottom.( I told him to jump in the void)
