Counter Sprint
I jogged back inside just as the porch light clicked on, heading straight for the kitchen counter to cool down. Right on the wooden cutting board, a plump red grape broke loose from its bunch and began rolling straight toward the edge! I didn't hesitate—I sprinted along the wood grain, dropped into a low slide, and trapped the grape firmly against my chest and hands just inches from the drop. It was cool, taut, and smelled sweet. I rolled it back safely against the side of a heavy ceramic bowl so it wouldn't wander off again.
