Depression and Return
A broad plateau of stepped plastic blocks stood adjacent to my boundary. Each square tier bore an inscribed glyph. I advanced, planting my boots upon the wide horizontal slab at the base. Beneath my weight, the foundation sank with a sharp, dampened thud, then rebounded instantly against my soles. An internal spring mechanism. Deliberate. Responsive. I shifted my center to test the resistance of adjacent tiers, pressing two upper palms against the neighboring keys. Ten uniform compressions. Each yielded and reset with precise tactile feedback. A functional suspension grid. I marked its coordinates for my strategic retreat route.
