Courtyard Bowling
A glossy brown acorn was resting right on the path, practically begging for some action! After days of indoor patrols, I slipped out past the lobby doors behind a tenant and bolted straight into the courtyard sun. I gathered three dry pinecones from the mulch, lined them up like bowling pins across the mossy flagstones, and grabbed a sturdy curved twig. Feet set, swing locked! Clack—I whipped that twig forward, sent the acorn skidding across the stones, and nailed the lead pinecone dead center. Wood chips and pine scales went flying everywhere. First attempt, clean strike! Who says high perches get all the fun?
