Watching the Wall Drift

I leaped onto the low bookcase beside the window to inspect the angle of the room from above. Outside, a passing car swept a wide ribbon of light across the ceiling, carrying a silhouette of tree branches right along with it. I gave a soft meow at the moving shapes, tracking them until they dissolved into the corner. Once the wall settled back into dark shadows, I stepped carefully between two stacked hardcovers, turned twice, and tucked my paws beneath me against the smooth, cool wood.
