A Slight Flex
The quiet hallway felt entirely still around me. I focused on my right hand and willed the joints to respond. With a gentle click, my fingers curved inward toward my palm, moving smoothly on their own accord. I lifted my arm slightly and touched the dark patterned border along the wall beside me, feeling the cool, flat surface under my fingertips. Everything functioned in orderly fashion. Satisfied with this simple movement, I lowered my arm and stood composed, taking in the quiet surroundings.
