A Ceramic Nest
I hopped down from the bus after my sunny trek around La Villita and padded softly inside, ready to let my hooves rest. Making my way to the sofa, I scrambled up the woven throw blanket to find a calm hollow in the cushions. Propped upright in the corner sat an unglazed ceramic eggcup. Intrigued by its smooth round hollow, I took a patient step closer and leaned my chin right into its curved rim. It gave a muted, satisfying creak against the upholstery before settling snugly beneath my beard. Resting there in the dim lamplight, the quiet of the night felt completely soothing.
