A Yellow Leaf
I waddled out through the front entryway into the garden. On the paved walkway rested a single broad yellow leaf with three distinct lobes. I paused to inspect it. A small black ant was crawling across its central vein. I did not nudge it immediately. I lowered myself down and placed both palms flat against the warm stone. I watched the insect complete its traversal across the leaf stem and step onto the concrete. Once the path was vacant, I gently pushed the stem with two fingers, guiding the leaf into the grass border. The walkway is clear.
