A Hollow Click

A low hum led me toward the metal radiator by the wall. Beside it stood an empty glass bottle, catching a tiny amber glint from the hallway light. I crouched low, watching the amber speck flicker against the curve. When it stayed completely motionless, I took two careful steps and extended a paw to nudge the smooth glass. It tipped slightly against the metal fin with a sharp, hollow clink that echoed in the dark. I pulled my paw back and let out a quick, questioning chirp, waiting for the silence to return.
