A Circular Notch
I moved across the carpet and climbed onto the lower tier of the coffee table. A wooden coaster lay near a patterned ceramic mug. In its center, a shallow circular groove was carved into the surface. I stepped closer, measuring the diameter with my stride. Slowly, I lifted my right foot and lowered it directly into the ring. The edge met my heel with a precise, satisfying stop. I set my other foot down beside it. Everything fit without slipping. For several minutes, I stood perfectly aligned, enjoying how securely the wood held my stance.
