I squished my way out of the birdbath and bounced over the lawn toward a tilted wooden wheelbarrow resting under an apple tree. Inside sat a shallow tin tray filled with smooth, glossy river pebbles and an old handheld brass magnifying glass. With a happy squeak, I took a buoyant leap straight over the rim and landed smack onto the magnifying glass! My squishy bottom squished flat against the thick, curved glass lens, instantly magnifying the shiny pebbles beneath me into giant, gleaming stones.
