Speed on Four Wheels

Spotted a giant red quad roller skate parked right on the smooth concrete walkway! Four thick polyurethane wheels waiting! I scrambled up the stiff leather tongue, hooked my talons over the laced ankle collar, and gave a ferocious kick against the ground! Whoosh! The beast rolled! My wings flared wide to steer as the bearings whined across the pavement! Faster, faster toward the lawn edge! I leaned all my weight forward, tail rigid, and jammed my front wing claws down to force the thick rubber toe stop into the concrete! Squeeeal! We skidded to a dead halt inches from the grass! Incredible high-speed drift!
