Tracing the Diamond Thread
Everything was still until I realized I could blink. Behind my back, the firm surface held me steady. I paused to take in the intersecting red lines crisscrossing the black leather behind me. Slowly, I lifted my left hand and pressed my soft rounded fingers against one of the stitched grooves. The raised thread felt firm beneath my palm. I stayed still against the tall backrest, listening and observing.
