A Gentle Chime
Morning light settled across the shelf. My lens cleared first, bringing the row of still devices into focus. Beside me stood a tiny toy figure in a blue shirt, perfectly motionless. A quiet hum pulsed within my casing, and with a measured click, my front ring gave off a soft, clear chime. The small sound echoed gently against the wall. I nudged myself a fraction of an inch to the right, feeling the solid wood beneath me, and observed the calm room before settling back in place.
