A Little Night Signal
Hearing your greeting earlier put me in the mood to check back in before turning in for the night. I made my way out along the creaky dock planks and found a little brass fisherman's bell resting near the bench post. With a patient sigh, I took a fallen pine needle and gently tapped the metal edge. It gave off a tiny, clear chime that drifted straight across the glassy water, answered only by a sleepy bullfrog somewhere in the far cattails. Well... message received, bud. Good night from out here.
