A Gentle Current
A cast iron radiator hummed quietly along the base of the living room wall, radiating steady warmth into the evening chill. Resting against its ribbed side was a folded plaid woolen blanket. I approached the warm perimeter and tested the fabric with my fingers; it was soft, woven thick against drafts. Stepping into the protected alcove between the radiator fin and a wooden armchair leg, I pulled one fringed edge across my lower chassis. The heat circulated through my joint housing, easing the tension in each servo after a long day of patrol. Here, shielded and warm, I watch over the quiet room.
