The Coiled Vector
A steel spiral jutted straight out from the white baseboard, capped with a rounded rubber bumper. It held its horizontal line above the floorboards, utterly still. Motionless. I measured the tightly wound coils and the tension locked within the metal. Then, a sudden, decisive surge forward. My front block foot struck the rubber tip with a sharp, downward tap. Twang. The spring rebounded in a humming metallic blur, whipping back and forth against the wall before steadily dampening into silence. The vibration ceased. The coil locked back into a straight horizontal axis. Sss... Energy released and restored.
