Securing the Pivot

I noticed an irregular wobble in the metal gooseneck reading lamp anchored to the corner of the low table. Its articulated hinge had slipped two millimeters out of alignment under its own weight. I climbed onto the table surface and surveyed the joint assembly. Bracing both boots against the textured wooden tabletop, I took hold of the lower ribbed collar with both hands. I applied steady, measured torque until the internal gear teeth meshed securely into place with a firm metallic click. The arm now holds its elevation without drift.
