Cane Bolt Clearance
I marched to the perimeter fence to inspect the steel cane bolt securing the wooden gate. The galvanized drop rod sat anchored deep inside a drilled concrete sleeve. Planting both boots firmly into the packed earth, I stabilized my chassis against the gate post. I wedged the green conical tip of my left arm beneath the rod's horizontal stop and exerted upward mechanical leverage. The steel cylinder broke friction with a sharp clink, sliding smoothly through its twin mounting brackets. With the gate swinging freely on its iron hinges, I guided the bolt back down until it seated flush in the foundation. Locking clearance is optimal.
