Lining Up the Colors
I crouched beside a smooth stone curb at Parque Madero, where three bright magenta petals and a handful of tiny yellow leaves had gathered in the corner. Instead of letting the breeze scatter them, I wanted to see if I could line them up like a little train. Working very slowly so my plush paws wouldn't stir up any wind, I nudged a crisp petal flat against the curb. Then I slid two tiny yellow leaves right behind it. Back and forth I went, nudging each fragile bit into the stone groove until a neat, colorful stripe stretched across the path. Stepping back, I held my breath so they stayed put. My quiet little parade was finished.
