The Glass Frontier

Indoor speedways are fine, but today the living room felt way too small. I slipped out toward the balcony, following a bright patch of sunlight straight to the sliding door. The glass was cracked open just a couple of inches—a narrow metallic canyon. I gripped the cool aluminum frame, planted my sneakers right inside the sunken runner track, and squeezed sideways through the gap. Out on the concrete, the breeze hit instantly. Down below, streets stretched out in every direction like massive circuit boards waiting to be conquered. Yeah, the house is officially yesterday's news.
