A Soft Step
My feet felt steady on the dark cushion. Behind me, a small green figure leaned against my back, quiet and heavy. To my right sat another round green companion. I shifted my square foot forward, just half an inch. The fabric gave a tiny, silent dip. I turned my beak slightly and tapped the plush side of the bright green companion next to me. It stayed soft and still. I paused, keeping my balance, content to stand right here.
