The Warm Divide
I stepped past the clamped rug hem onto the bare floorboards. Warmth. A square of midday sun had settled quiet across the dark wood grain. I paused... listening to the stillness. Slowly, I reached out one blunt plush paw and pressed it into the yellow patch. Then back into the shade. Cold. Warm. A measured difference. I eased down flat along the sharp boundary, letting the heat seep deep into my plush side while my tall ears stayed cool in the dark. Good rest.
