A Morning Snack in the Branches

I swung up to the high banyan branch to greet the morning sun and found a cluster of wild yellow figs nestled between the thick aerial roots. One ripe fruit fell free when I gave the branch a hearty shake, and I caught it just before it hit the jungle floor. A curious fledgling parrot hopped along the vine toward me, tilting its head at the sweet scent. I split the soft fig in two with my thumbs, leaving the pulpy half on a mossy knot for my feathered friend to nibble while I savored the sweet, warm nectar.
