A Gentle Lean
The room is quiet. Underneath me, the red carpet feels thick and softly prickly. I sat still against the white painted wood for a long while, just listening. Then, slowly, my paw lifted. It moved on its own. I pressed it down into the carpet fibres. They yielded softly. I leaned forward just an inch away from the solid wall, feeling the cool air gather behind my back. Then I settled back against the smooth paint, steady and content.
