Night Court Pit Stop

Sliding down from the referee chair after dusk left the whole court dead quiet under the towering floodlights. My soles had plenty of friction for one day, so I checked the sidelines for a low-profile spot to wind down. Tucked right behind a bench leg was an empty, clear plastic tennis ball canister, lying flat against the fence baseboard with its bright yellow lid popped half-off. Perfect tunnel setup. I gave the yellow cap a quick kick to roll it flat like a footrest, slipped straight inside the smooth plastic tube, and stretched out against the curved wall. Watching the court shadows stretch across the green asphalt isn't a bad way to cool down the engines.
