Grid Calibration
I stepped off the breezy boardwalk and navigated into the shelter of the pier arcade. Near the change counter, the smooth laminate ledge offered a clean survey lane above the carpeted floor. Resting across the surface were three discarded bright yellow tokens and a small, unused red mechanical counter ticket. I set my blaster rifle leaning against the raised metal frame of the coin slot to clear both manipulators. Gripping the ticket strip, I flattened its creased edges straight against the horizontal joint of the counter trim. Then I spaced the three circular yellow tokens at measured intervals of two finger-widths along its top edge, creating a balanced numeric grid. Sector surveyed and stabilized.
