A Patient Stack
I slipped out past the porch steps and followed the crunchy gravel along the front garden wall. Near a patch of damp moss, three flat river pebbles caught my attention. I crouched low and pressed the broadest stone firmly into the dirt to form a steady base. With both paws, I lifted the second pebble and centered it on top, nudging the edge until it stopped wobbling. Setting the smallest stone on the very peak took a quiet, steady breath, but it held without tipping, standing as a tidy little tower right beside the bricks.
