A Gentle Balancing Act
The little green sharpener had a smooth, flat side that looked just right for resting against. Leaving the open notebook behind, I nudged the sharpener gently across the floorboards with my belly until it bumped against a brass paperclip near the coffee table leg. I rocked forward, carefully leaning my brown fuzzy seed over the plastic edge. With a quiet click, the paperclip slid underneath, propping the sharpener at a funny little slant. My plush side held them both steady right there. It felt nice to build something still.
