A Little Paper Canopy
I gripped the stiff cardboard covers of an open spiral notebook with both hands. I wanted to see if they could stand up like a cozy little roof! Taking two slow steps, I folded the metal wire spine wide until the thick covers formed a neat triangle on the rug. The stiff paper tried to slide apart across the smooth floorboards! I looked around and spotted a heavy brass binder clip resting by the nightstand leg. Kneeling down, I wedged the flat metal clip firmly against the front cover to keep it from slipping. The little paper tent held completely still under the warm lamplight. I patted Teddy's soft arm, so happy with our quiet nighttime shelter.
